Is micro1 legit? A review of its Company Data Partnerships

micro1 says it pays established companies $100K to $3M+ to license their operational data. That sounds unlikely until you see who's behind micro1 and who's lending it the money.

micro1's program in four points

  • micro1 is a San Francisco AI data company valued at $4B. It has committed $1B over 12 months to licensing company data, with financing from Citi and Hercules Capital.
  • There are two ways in: a one-time license of a data snapshot (a "corpus"), or ongoing paid work evaluating AI agents ("workflows").
  • Owners who've taken part have talked about it on micro1's own YouTube channel, and their accounts match micro1's.
  • Some details, including the full de-identification method and the contract terms, aren't public. Ask for them in writing.

Who micro1 is

Ali Ansari founded micro1 in San Francisco. It built its business supplying vetted human experts to AI labs and has since moved into licensing company data.

To hear from Ansari himself, watch his interview with theCUBE, SiliconANGLE's tech news show, in its series with NYSE Wired. It covers micro1's wider business rather than the data partnerships program.

How micro1's two options work

Corpus (one-time)Workflows (ongoing)
What it isA license of a de-identified snapshot of company data such as Google Workspace, Slack, your CRM and documents.Staff write tasks based on their real work. AI agents attempt them in your actual tools, and staff evaluate the results.
Pay$100K to $3M+, set deal by deal. The program page lists tiers of $100k+, $500k+ and $1M+.Per evaluation. micro1 doesn't publish the rate.
EffortA 10-minute form with rough data sizes, then micro1's engineers handle the export. Someone with admin access will need to give it some time.Done as part of daily work. Owners say the agents end up saving their teams time.

Stages: micro1 describes four: apply, evaluation, discovery call, partnership. micro1 creator guidelines (refer.micro1.ai/influencer/guidelines), checked Oct 23, 2026

Timeline: micro1's referral partners describe a price within a few days of the form, and the whole process taking two to three weeks. Payment usually arrives around 60 days after you start. micro1 referral partner interview (YouTube), checked Oct 23, 2026

Who qualifies: your company needs 30+ employees, a few years of history and English-language data. You can be in any industry, mainly in the US, UK or Canada. Past participants include a New York lender, a Florida pool builder and a 50-person marketing agency. If you hold health records, legally privileged material or trade secrets, raise them early. Most companies leave them out of scope.

What owners who took part say

"Just scrubbing is not enough."
Grant Gooley, Founder & CEO of My Portal Marketing, which takes part in both micro1 options. He was explaining why his team left client data and finances out of scope.

Gooley says his attorneys reviewed the contracts and that micro1 gave far more hands-on support than he expected. In a separate interview, a micro1 referral partner describes doubtful owners finishing within a few weeks. She says the most common misunderstanding is that companies are selling their data, when they're licensing it and keeping their own copy.

micro1 published both interviews, so treat them as promotional. I include them because they're first-hand accounts that agree with each other, and not as neutral reviews.

How micro1 protects company data

micro1 says it removes personal data where relevant, rewrites some data synthetically while keeping its structure, processes everything in isolated pipelines and lets you review samples first. In its June 2026 webinar it said data is deleted 60 days after transfer by default. Companies keep ownership of their data.

In September 2026 micro1 also published test results for its de-identification tool. No other company in this market has done that. My de-identification guide sets out the figures, what they don't cover and the questions to ask.

What's still unclear about micro1

  • Revenue figures are self-reported. That's normal for a private company, but treat them as claims.
  • The full contract isn't public. Ask for it early and have a lawyer read it, as Gooley did.
  • The estimator gives a range, and the offer comes later. micro1's own example is $50,284 to $92,776, below its lowest published tier. The real figure comes after review.
  • I found no lawsuits or regulatory action against micro1 in searches up to October 23, 2026. That doesn't prove there are none. I'll update this page if anything comes up.

Whether micro1 suits your company

micro1's program is real and well funded, and it's signing companies now. It fits your company if your know-how is written down or sits in email and chat.

The workflow option sets it apart: an ongoing income on top of, or instead of, a one-time license. Read the contract before you agree to anything, as you would with any data deal.
