Someone has offered your company six figures for its old emails, or you've read that AI companies do this. It sounds like exactly the kind of message you'd delete. You'll find what's real, what isn't, and how to check an offer yourself.

## micro1's program is real

**micro1's Company Data Partnerships program is genuine.** micro1 is a large, venture-backed company. Mainstream business press has covered the program, and business owners have talked publicly about taking part. Fake and inflated offers piggyback on real ones, though. Use the warning signs below to spot them.

## Evidence that micro1 pays for data

## Why the offer sounds like a scam

- **It's new.** Almost nobody had heard of licensing workflow data before 2026, and unfamiliar offers involving money usually mean trouble.

- **The data already exists.** You're being paid for records you'd never thought of as an asset, which feels like money for nothing.

- **The hype doesn't help.** YouTube videos promising "time-sensitive" multi-million-dollar offers, often selling the creator's own brokerage, make the real program look less credible.

- **The privacy worry is real.** Headlines about companies "selling Slack DMs" point at a genuine concern. My [privacy guide](https://workflowdividend.com/de-identification.md) explains how micro1 deals with it.

## Six warning signs of a fake or bad offer

### Any upfront fee

micro1 says there's nothing to pay. If someone asks for an "assessment", "onboarding" or "listing" fee, they aren't running a real program.

### A request for raw data before a contract

Real programs start with a summary of what you hold, such as rough data sizes per system. Don't send actual records until a license agreement is signed.

### Pressure and deadlines

"This offer expires Friday" is a sales tactic. A real program will still be there after your lawyer has read the contract.

### Look-alike websites

micro1's real site is micro1.ai. Check the address before you enter details or sign anything.

### A middleman who doesn't disclose a cut

Brokers and referrers, me included, can be paid by the program. That's fine when it's disclosed and costs you nothing. Someone taking a share of your payment without telling you is a different matter.

### Vague answers about privacy

If nobody can explain in writing how identities are removed and who sees the raw data, walk away.

## How to check an offer yourself

1. Check that any link you're sent goes to micro1.ai. Don't trust a link in an unsolicited message that goes anywhere else.

2. Ask for the full license agreement before you share anything, and have a lawyer read it.

3. Put the nine privacy questions in my [de-identification guide](https://workflowdividend.com/de-identification.md#questions) to the program, and get the answers in writing.

4. Ask to speak to a company that's already been through the process. micro1's referral partners say they can arrange this for you.

5. Read [my review of micro1's Company Data Partnerships](https://workflowdividend.com/micro1-data-partnerships-legit.md), concerns included.

### How I'm paid

I'm not employed by micro1. If your company signs up through my introduction, micro1 may pay me a referral fee, which costs you nothing and doesn't change your terms. I'd rather lose a referral than see you sign something you don't understand.
